10Cr15CoMoV delivers VG10-level performance at a friendlier price.
Around 1% carbon with chromium, molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt yields ~60 HRC hardness, excellent edge retention, and real corrosion resistance. It sharpens cleanly to a razor edge, stays tough in the kitchen, and offers consistent qualitygreat everyday value.
I stand by my copy about 10Cr15CoMoV steel. I would bet more Damascus knives are made out of this metal than any other for quality kitchen knives. Sad that most of the sales are made to people who think they’re buying a Japanese VG-10 steel knife. I have a list of 33 competitors including names like Sedio, Senken, and Yakushi that advertise as Japanese knives, never declaring they’re made in China out of Chinese steel. Rob – The Bamboo Guy
Micarta vs G-10: G-10 is stiffer and slightly more wear-resistant, but harsher and slicker; Micarta is lighter and grippier, especially when wet.
